In seinem digitalen Vortrag wird der Research Associated Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders vom MGH Institute of Health Professions über Erfahrungen zur Einbindung von Bürgerwissenschaftler:innen in linguistische Online-Experimente berichten, die er in verschiedenen Forschungsprojekten durchgeführt hat.

Abstract:

Traditional laboratory-based experiments necessitate a glacial pace of progress. It is difficult if not impossible to test enough subjects to ensure replicability. Even then, it is rare for the results to generalize to the entire class of stimuli, much less other demographics and cultures. Thus, answering a basic question about a phenomenon may easily require 10,000 studies. I show how researchers can — and have — used online citizen science to break through this bottleneck, accelerating discovery by orders of magnitude.
