Bielefeld University continues to play a leading role in the nationwide “University Ranking by Equality Aspects 2023”. In the overall evaluation, it is among the top ten state universities. The ranking was published on June 20. It uses figures to compare how universities are positioned and changing in the area of gender equality.
This year’s ranking is based on quantitative data from the Federal Statistical Office from 2021. The overall ranking compares the gender equality situation of 75 universities, 145 universities of applied sciences and 44 universities of the arts.
Since 2003, the Centre of Excellence Women in Science and Research (CEWS; GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences) has published this ranking every two years. It makes developments and trends visible and has established itself as a component of quality assurance for gender equality at universities.
