A Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy on 14 April claimed many civilian lives, including students from the city’s State University. The buildings of the partner university were destroyed and damaged in the attacks, and Sumy University is an associated partner in the European University Alliance NEOLAiA, of which Bielefeld University is also a member. An expression of solidarity.
We condemn the attack on educational institutions that prepare students for leading roles in society and that embody the democratic values of their nation. We think of relatives, victims and all those affected by senseless warlike violence.
