The news and images that are reaching us from Turkey and Syria are shocking. Many thousands of people have fallen victim to the disaster in the Turkish-Syrian border area, countless more are still missing. Many people have lost their homes.
Our thoughts are with the victims and those suffering from the earthquake disaster. Many of the students and staff of Bielefeld University have family and friends in the affected regions. We send our deepest sympathies to all of them.
The effected regions are in dire need of support. Donations can be made, for example at Aktion Deutschland Hilft. The Turkish-German University is also raising donations in kind and money.
