For the turn of the year 2025/2026, Bielefeld University will close on Friday, 19 December 2025, 4 pm, up to and including Sunday, 4 January 2026. In order to save energy and energy costs, the technical facilities will be largely shut down during this period. The university will reopen on 5 January 2026 at 5 a.m.
The closure also includes the university library and BITS. The library will be open until Friday, 19 December 2025 at 3 pm. From Monday, 5 January 2026, 8 a.m., the library will reopen with the usual opening hours.
The multi-storey and underground car parks will also be closed during this time.
