The Center for Uncertainty Studies (CeUS) welcomes Ian Scoones, who is a professorial fellow at the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex) and will be presenting his latest book “Navigating Uncertainty: Radical Rethinking for a Turbulent World“:
Uncertainties are everywhere. Whether it’s climate change, financial volatility, pandemic outbreaks or new technologies, we don’t know what the future will hold. For many contemporary challenges, navigating uncertainty – where we cannot predict what may happen – is essential. But how is this done, and what can we learn from different contexts about responding to and living with uncertainty?
During the ninth iteration of the interdisciplinary Uncertainty Talks, researchers from various career levels and disciplines, along with interested members of the public, will have the opportunity to explore and discuss an approach to uncertainty that emphasizes flexible response over risk and control.
