The transregional conference conveys scholars from the Americas, researchers from Bielefeld University linked to the Center of InterAmerican Studies and colleagues affiliated to the wider German research fields. The concept of the conference is interdisciplinary with focus on humanities, social sciences and arts. We are interested in taking the Americas as a starting point for mapping different dimensions of „crises“ we are currently facing and the ways different actors address the uncertainties related or produced thereby. Finally, we discuss how actors from the Americas past and present have been active in producing uncertainties but also contributing to productively using uncertainties for facing and negotiating moments and structures of crisis with the aim of (re)imagining and remapping the social world.
