SUMMARY:Making of "MÖH"
DESCRIPTION:Möh\, das Schaf wurde 2007 im Rahmen einer Theater-Inszenierung geboren. Es folgten zahlreiche Bilder\, eine Reise mit Tieren von Frederik Vahle und Hannes Pohle\, ein Kreisverkehr in Bielefeld-Senne und ein jährlich erscheinender Kalender. In der Ausstellung im BITS SPACE werden auch bisher unveröffentlichte Skizzen von Möh zu sehen sein. \nMöhs Zeichner Gilbert Bender war u.a. als Autor der Comic-Serie Nessy und Wolf für die Neue Westfälische tätig und verarbeitet mit Hilfe seiner Schafe aktuelle und philosophische Themen. Er wird am 10. Juni 2026 um 17 Uhr persönlich durch die Ausstellung führen. Treffpunkt: Eingangsbereich BITS SPACE. \nIm Anschluss daran bietet er einen kostenfreien Workshop zur Entwicklung einer eigenen Comic-Figur an. DESCRIPTION:Convenors: Tetiana Havlin (Cottbus)\, Manuel Peters (Chemnitz)\, Yaroslav Zhuravlov (Jena) \n\n\n\nWorkshop in the context of the Research Group “Postcolonial and Postsocialist Interdependencies Across Borders”. \nThe stakeholder workshop brings together scholars\, curators\, museum practitioners\, and civil society actors to explore how postcolonial and postsocialist pasts and presents intersect in the analysis of space\, memory\, and belonging. While these fields have often developed in parallel\, recent scholarship increasingly highlights their interdependencies and the need for dialogue across regional and disciplinary boundaries. The workshop aims to foster such exchange by addressing conceptual approaches\, methodological challenges\, and practical implications.\nThe program combines public lectures with two thematic panel discussions that encourage interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral dialogue. The first panel examines how spatial practices—such as mapping urban environments—shape understandings of complex transnational historical legacies\, belonging\, and representation. DESCRIPTION:Die Bielefeld School of Education (BiSEd) wird als Querstruktur getragen von Wissenschaftler*innen und Studierenden aus den neun an der Lehrer*innenausbildung beteiligten Fakultäten sowie den an der BiSEd-Geschäftsstelle beschäftigten hauptamtlichen Mitarbeiter*innen. Sie wird von einem achtköpfigen gewählten Vorstand geleitet. Der Vorstand berät und entscheidet in Fragen von allgemeiner und grundsätzlicher Bedeutung der Bielefelder Lehrkräftebildung. \nIn den Vorstandssitzungen werden aktuelle Themen der Bielefelder Lehrkräftebildung verhandelt. Die Vorstandssitzungen sind nicht öffentlich.

SUMMARY:Dr. Iona Gessinger (Universität Saarbrücken): Tracing Articulatory Features in Automatic Speech Recognition Models
DESCRIPTION:Automatic speech recognition (ASR) models encode rich phonetic information in their internal representations\, yet the structure and dynamics of these representations remain difficult to interpret. This talk explores how articulatory features such as place and manner of articulation and voicing can be traced across transformer-based ASR models using probing methods. Drawing on analyses of wav2vec 2.0 and Whisper\, we examine how these models encode coarticulation and how robust their representations remain under signal perturbations such as added noise and silent or noisy gaps. By following articulatory feature trajectories across encoder layers\, we reveal patterns consistent with phonetic expectations and highlight differences between ASR architectures in their ability to represent and recover linguistic information. Together\, these findings demonstrate how linguistically informed probing can improve the interpretability of latent representations in ASR systems. \nDr. Iona Gessingers Forschungsinteressen liegen in der Art und Weise\, wie Menschen Sprache wahrnehmen und produzieren und wie und warum sie diese an verschiedene Gesprächspartner anpassen\, wie z. B. an virtuelle Agenten. Sie wurde 2022 für ihre Arbeit zur „Phonetic Accommodation of Human Interlocutors in the Context of Human-Computer Interaction“ an der Universität Saarbrücken promoviert und forschte anschließend am University College Dublin\, wo sie mit Prof. Dr. Benjamin Cowan in der School of Information and Communication Studies und Prof. Dr. Julie Carson-Berndsen in der School of Computer Science zusammengearbeitet hat. Derzeit ist sie Postdoktorandin im DFG-Projekt „ Judeo-Spanish in Bulgaria: a contact language between archaism and innovation“\, das von Prof. Dr. Christoph Gabriel (JGU Mainz) und Prof. Dr. Bistra Andreeva (Universität Saarbrücken) geleitet wird.
